8/22/16 – RPS Peak Performance Meet Prep – Week 3, Day 1

I’m finally all moved back onto campus and settled in for this Fall Semester. I got my first training day of this week in this morning before classes but it was not my best performance. I still have some work to do with my bench press weights as they are not moving like I had planned. I am in talks with Brandon now to figure out what the issue is. Aside from that it is nice to be back training with Ethan and the rest of my Purdue Barbell family. Today’s training went as follows…

  • Stretch and Warm-Up
  • Competition Bench Press
    • 45×10, 95×5, 135×5, 185×5, 225×3, 255×2,
    • Last Warm Up: 285x2x2
    • Opener: 315×1 (Fail), 315×1 (Fail)
    • Second: 315×1 (2 Board)
  • Dumbbell Bench Press
    • 60×15, 70×15, 75×15
  • Chest Supported Row – 4×12
  • Dumbbell Skulls – 3×12
  • Band Flys – 50 Reps
  • Band Pressdowns – 50 Reps
  • Band Pull Aparts – 100 Reps

Last week after moving in, I began training with Ethan again and subsequently switched my training day order back to what it traditionally has been (lower, upper, lower, upper). Over the summer I had flipped it in order to give my shoulders and elbows a break on bench days having not squatted before them. I knew I had made a mistake immediately after my elbow pain returned the very first session after the switch last week. Due to this I have switched my rotation order back to my summer variation and I believe Ethan will be doing the same at least through the next 3 weeks. I believe alot of my bench issues are coming from this nagging issue so hopefully the switch will get me back on track. Everything else is moving the way I had hoped which gives me confidence. Calories are up, strength is up, and motivation is up as I head toward the half way point in this prep cycle. It should be a great meet! Until next time.
